There are changes at the top for the country’s leading specialist children’s library supplier.

A surprise for many people in the book trade and library world but Moira Arthur will be leaving the company later this year.  Moira has worked at Peters for 25 years – the last 10 as Managing Director, but feels it is time for a change of direction, literally, as she will be retiring early and returning to family in Scotland to pursue other interests.

Her role will be filled by Carl McInerney, who joins Peters on 6th April.  Carl has a strong logistical and marketing background, having worked since 1981 for Bass Brewers and Coca-Cola Enterprises in both operational and commercial environments.  He has a breadth of knowledge across diverse functions including logistics; sales; trade marketing and procurement.

During the handover period Moira and Carl will be contacting library customers to arrange introductory meetings. They are both attending the LIBF and will be happy to meet and talk to publishers about the changes ahead.

More change comes in August when Peter Sheldon, the grand old man of library supply, will be retiring from his day-to-day involvement in the company. Peter (65 in June!) has over 40 years of library supply experience, the last 25 with Peters, but his cottage and other life in Somerset  are now pulling him away from the hustle and bustle of Birmingham.

Peters Bookselling Services is wholly owned by the Peters family with Malcolm Peters and his son Rhydian still actively involved in the business, which is now the largest, independent library supplier in the country.

Moira stated

“Peters has been a wonderful company to work for, and the last 25 years have flown by.  The opportunity, over the last ten years, to establish Peters as the premier children’s library supplier has had its moments, but my time here has been immensely enjoyable and I am extremely proud of what the company has achieved during my tenure as MD.  There’s no doubt that I am going to miss it all, however I do feel that the time is right for a change, and I wish the company continued success”
