Each year, approximately 4.3 million people in the UK take on unpaid caring responsibilities—many while also managing employment. Libraries, as inclusive and community-focused institutions, are uniquely positioned to support carers in meaningful ways.
This webinar will initiate a conversation around the role libraries can play in recognising and responding to the needs of carers. We will explore three key areas of focus:
- Supporting library staff who are carers through workplace policies and practices
- Providing services and resources for library users who are carers
- Ensuring carers are represented in library collections and programming

Tim Buckle (Collections Co-ordinator: Acquisitions) Durham University.
Tim has over 20 years experience of working in Library acquisitions. Tim is an active member of the University Library EDI Working Group and the University’s Stonewall Workplace Equality Index (WEI) Working Group. Nationally, Tim serves on the committee of CILIP’s Community, Diversity and Equality Group (CDEG).
