Ebook Acquisition in the UK: Before and After the Pandemic Struck

Tuesday 16th March, 14:30 (GMT)

In 2020, ProQuest ran two surveys looking at the books acquisition process of libraries across the UK. The first survey took place in January/February of 2020 when none of us could have predicted the dramatic shift in resource acquisition UK libraries were about to experience only a month later. In the follow-up survey in September/October 2020 they decided to look at emerging trends and how the library community was adapting acquisition strategies and priorities in supporting the changing teaching and learning landscape.

In this webinar session ProQuest will provide our analysis of the findings of the 2020 surveys. They will also take a deep dive into usage data from the Ebook Central platform to reveal user behaviour trends and what these might reveal for how students and academics are adapting to the new research environment. Please join the ProQuest team as they share insights that can help UK librarians plan their next books collection development strategy differently, budget in a new way and more based on the key themes and trends identified during the studies and usage timeline.

Free and open to all.
