Financial challenges in the HE sector are leading to budget reductions in many libraries, including cuts to content budgets and limited staff resources. The webinar will discuss how two libraries are reshaping their resource provision and changing their approaches to budget management and modeling. To enable free and frank discussion, this webinar is available to NAG Institutional members only and will not be recorded.

Our Speakers

Sarah Thompson, Assistant Director, Library, Archives & Learning Services at University of York  Sarah Thompson is Assistant Director for Library, Archives and Learning Services at the University of York, where she has responsibility for Content and Open Research.  Her teams acquire and manage the library’s information resources and collections, and support York researchers to publish their work open access and develop other open research practices. Sarah has strategic oversight of the Library’s content budget for both paywalled and open access content, and is steering a gradual transition towards the latter. She is also active in a number of different networks, working in collaboration with other libraries, consortia, publishers and service providers to support the move to open access and open scholarship.   Dr Eleonora Gandolfi, Associate Director (Research and Innovation) at University of Surrey Eleonora Gandolfi is Associated Director (Research and Innovation) at the University of Surrey, where she leads the Content and Open Research teams.  Her team is responsible for library resources (acquisition, collections management and interlibrary loans) and publications via open access supporting Surrey’s teaching and research priorities. Eleonora has strategic oversight of the library Content and Open Access budgets and has co-led the Library Open Educational Resources (OER) Initiative to support financial sustainability and inclusion across Surrey reading lists. She is an advocate for open digital innovation and has been an active member of national and international networks in this area promoting sustainable open models' transition.
