UNIVERSITY OF DERBY WINS THE 2019 NAG AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE

This year’s National Acquisitions Group (NAG) Award for Excellence has been won by the University of Derby’s Acquisitions Team. This award recognised the immense changes which their Team have implemented over the last year and the level of benefits which this new co-creation approach has brought to their students and users.

Matt Cox, Content & Discovery Manager, on behalf of the team, said: “The team are delighted to have won the NAG Award for Excellence. We have worked at extreme pace in 2019 with a key theme of viewing students as partners.  Introducing changes such as removing over 100 fund codes, introducing a new student led purchasing scheme, purchasing inter library loans, increasing our reservation scheme and the big one of introducing shelf-ready at Derby.

We’re now looking at bringing even more changes such as reviewing all of our Library systems as well as working with our suppliers to introduce reading list driven acquisitions.  We look forward to presenting our paper in November!

The team from the University of Derby will present a paper at the NAG Conference in November in Birmingham to describe their achievements and share ideas and innovation with the wider NAG community.  This will also be available as part of a future issue of NAG’s journal, ‘Taking Stock’.
