JISC Collections has published a report on ‘UK Scholarly Reading and the Value of Library Resources’ based on research carried out by Professor Carol Tenopir from the Center for Information and Communication Studies at the University of Tennessee. The report examines how valuable scholarly reading has become for academics, especially in terms of access to journal articles and provides evidence that the library has an integral role in the university’s mission of research and teaching – a well-resourced library may have a correlation to the overall strength and success of the institution.
